A company called 'Arus Liar' ('Wild Streams') has set up a white-water rafting trip from Citarik, Sukabumi, about 144 km from Bandung and 120 km from Jakarta. Depending on the season this exciting adventure sport can range from thrilling to dangerous, as West Java's waters can be very rough at times. Definitely for the very brave and adventuresome – but promising great photos and memories.

Those who love war exercises can also take part in paintball games and can take part in other off-road motorized adventure (a favorite event among local Jeep-nuts).

It is also possible to arrange to enter the Halimun National Park to go trekking up Mount Halimun, one of the wilder areas in Sunda (home of the secretive Baduy people as well).

West Java is covered with tropical forests with flora and fauna rarely found in other provinces. Further, its tropical forests are rich with various animals, among others being the rhinoceros and various monkeys.

Whatever you are looking for in your tropical vacation, you will certainly find something to please and surprise you in modern / traditional West Java! Plan on spending time to get around (roads are not always easy to navigate), but prices are fair and the locals friendly.
